Renewals, Auto-Renew and Avoiding Suspension Print

  • 0

Hosting and domains renew on a cycle. Knowing the timeline prevents unpleasant surprises.

How renewal works

An invoice is generated before the due date and reminders are emailed. Pay it before the due date and the service continues without interruption.

If an invoice goes unpaid

  1. Overdue reminders are sent after the due date.
  2. Suspension follows a grace period. The website and email stop working, but your data is untouched.
  3. Termination comes later, and deletes all data permanently.

Paying the invoice during suspension usually restores service automatically within minutes. After termination, data cannot be recovered — do not let it get that far.

Domains are stricter

A domain stops resolving on its expiry date. There is then a redemption period during which recovery is possible but attracts a substantial registry fee, and after that the domain is released to the public. Renew domains early — there is no benefit to waiting.

Enabling auto-renew

  • Domains: Domains → My Domains, click the domain, and switch on Auto Renew.
  • Hosting: store a payment method under Billing → Payment Methods so renewals are charged automatically.

Keep your email address current

Every reminder goes to your registered email. If it is a mailbox on the very account being suspended, you will not receive the warnings. Use an independent address such as Gmail for your client area account.

Need more time?

Open a Billing ticket before the due date. We would far rather arrange something than see a site go down.
