Creating an Email Account for Your Domain Print

A professional address at your own domain takes about a minute to set up.

Create the mailbox

1. Log in to cPanel and open Email → Email Accounts.
2. Click Create.
3. Choose the domain and enter the part before the @, for example info.
4. Set a strong password — mailboxes are a favourite target for attackers.
5. Set a storage quota, or choose Unlimited if your plan allows.
6. Click Create.

Forwarders instead of mailboxes

If you only want mail redirected to an existing address, use Email → Forwarders instead. Forwarders use no storage.

Aliases and catch-all

A catch-all address (Default Address in cPanel) receives anything sent to a name that does not exist. It is convenient but attracts a large amount of spam — we recommend discarding unrouted mail instead.

Auto-responders

Open Email → Autoresponders to set an out-of-office reply with a start and stop time.

Managing storage

When a mailbox fills up, senders receive a bounce. Watch usage in Email Accounts, empty Trash and Junk regularly, and raise the quota when needed. If you use POP3, make sure your client is set to delete messages from the server after a sensible period.
